    Barbells for Boobs

Everyone had a blast at CrossFit East Valley this afternoon.  Their was a huge turnout from Core.  It was so nice to see you guys.  It feels like I haven’t seen you guys in sooooo long.  I had a great time catching up and seeing you guys compete.  I couldn’t stay for the whole event but saw a few of you guys get after it.  I got texts afterwards and it seemed like the majority of you hit new PR’s.  That’s awesome!

A few of you guys were a little frustrated, don’t be.  You’re not always going to have a perfect day.  Don’t spend too much time dwelling on it.  You should feel proud of yourself for getting out there and lifting in front of all those people.  It’s nerve racking.  My palms were sweating and my heart was racing with each of you.  I was really proud of you guys, I hope you feel the same about yourself!  Here’s a few pictures Vikki took of the event.  There’s more on our FB page.  See you guys soon.

Great job everyone that did barbells for boobs, i signed up for it but something came up on Saturday so I had to miss it :( I am sure everyone did an excellent job and support the core crew!! You guys are awesome. Stacey you are awesome!! Survivor for sure!

Back in 2000, while home from Buffalo i had to take my mother to her Dr. and that is when she was told she had stage III breast cancer. That week she had surgery and was sent home. This was Christmas time and my mom makes lasagna every year. It’s an Italian thing  On Christmas Eve my sisters and I had to pull together and make the lasagna for our Christmas dinner. Christmas dinner is not Christmas dinner without lasagna. It did not taste as good as my mom’s but we had our lasagna We didn’t make homemade noodles like my mom has for years but it was lasagna. A week later I had to head back to Buffalo to finish school. This was the hardest thing that I had to do knowing that my mom had to endure chemotherapy and radiation while I was 1000’s miles away.
In May I was scheduled to graduate and I did not want to walk. My family was in Arizona and could not make it to Buffalo. However, my friends in Buffalo encouraged me to walk. So during the ceremony my name was called I hear this loud cheer out in the audience. Who would be cheering for me, I don’t know anyone in Buffalo. I saw signs being held by my family and my I lost it. I hadn’t seen her since her Dx and to see her there with here wig and looking ill brought tears to my eyes.

She has been cancer free since! My sisters and I get checked regularly since we do have this family history of breast cancer and I really wanted to support others out there. This is why I signed up even though I did not do the WOD. Knowing that my contribution will help others is satisfying enough. This is what the WOD was about; it is not about PR’s and getting mad about not doing well. It is about helping others.

Okay..that is my soap note for the month :)
