Meet Joe! He has been selected as our Athlete Spotlight for the month of February. He first came to Core in September of 2010, and he was already an active Rugby player looking for something to take his game to the next level. During the past 2+ years, I’ve had the pleasure of watching Joe grow leaps and bounds as an Athlete. He’s currently a member of the Core Strength Class and has grown even further. Not only is he part of the Strength Class, Joe has stepped up and become a leader and a role model for his peers. I have truly enjoyed working with Joe, he is a joy to have in class. Next time you see him in class, stop by and say “Hi”, he’s pretty witty and fun to be around.
“When I was called and told that I had been selected for the athlete of the month, I was truly taken aback. To work out at a gym with so many great athletes and people means a lot to me. Like so many others, I found Core because I was getting bored and a little lazy doing my own thing at a gym. I have played sports my entire life and was finding myself getting more muscle pulls and ankle sprains than I had in the past. I was not sure how much longer I could continue to play the sports I loved so much. Because of this, I needed to find a workout routine that was going to condition me for my weekend activities. What I found at Core exceeded all of my expectations.
I began going to Core three days a week and found myself craving more. As time went on I continued to add days and a variety of classes to mix up my workout. Last summer I began participating in the strength cycles and have found something I love. I feel constantly challenged to push myself toward new PR’s and achievements. The workouts and core and stretch classes have been extremely beneficial toward my athletic career as well. I do not suffer the sprains and pulls that I used to and playing rugby has been much more fun and pain free.
I have enjoyed my time at Core not only through notice of my own achievements, but mainly due to the amazing coaches, staff and fellow crossfitters I have met here. The atmosphere that Core creates is such a welcoming environment; it is hard to stay away. The coaches have been so extremely motivating and encouraging that it makes working through a tough WOD or tough lift easier.
I want to thank everyone at Core for making my time spent here so great. I look forward to many more workouts and strength gains in the future.”
