Yoga Therapy
When performed appropriately under the guidance of a skilled instructor, Yoga can improve posture, flexibility, core strength as well as reduce stress. Historically, Yoga has been viewed as a psychospiritual practice designed to alleviate human suffering. For years through the practice of Yoga students have discovered how thoughts, relationships, posture and breathing are all interwoven. Matthew Taylor, PT, PhD, RYT notes in the February 2011 Central Arizona Health & Wellness pulication that the process takes time – Yoga therapy is not a quick fix, but aimed to get at the root of the suffering. One of the key differences between Yoga therapy and “the therapies” is that the student, rather than the therapist, is empowered to experience and manage their own relief. Matthew notes you need not be strong or flexible or change any of your beliefs in order to practice Yoga. At CoreCrossFit you need not wear tight clothing, perform complex postures or chant to some diety (unless of course you want to!). Our Yoga classes are perfect for the beginner as well as the more advanced student.
Come check out a class and meet our new instructor, Krista Murphy, RYT. Krista holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ballet and Modern Dance, Choreography and Performance. She is a certified Yoga instructor and has studied and taught in the U.S. as well as Costa Rica and the Bahamas. Krista is very talented, kind, supportive and patient - many of the qualities that make somone a great teacher!
If you are anxious about trying Yoga – whether it is your first time or you’ve had a bad Yoga experience – come to tonight’s class. I will be there and I set the standard very low! Tonight’s class is open to all members free of charge.
Bottom line – Yoga is a great recovery program and along with all of the benefits noted above it will help to improve your performance in the gym!
See you tonight at 7:00 p.m.

WOW! 50 reps…..Benbata Training at its finest
Replyinteresting choice of wod. my favorite part of Benbata Training: “1 to 2 exercises. Boom. Done. You just got jacked in less than 10 minutes”
ReplySince I’m relative new to Crossfit, I was excited to learn about this “Benbata Training” Kyle and Hayley are referring to…so I google’d it.
Besides being a small city in Algeria, it turns out Benbata is about getting “yammed”, “swollen”, and “gacked”.
Some info I found on Benbata Training for the unenlightened:
- it’s the most economical tool for getting yoked
- recent studies suggest that Benbata is the quickest, most efficient method of catching a pump so you can look jacked in your V-neck on a Saturday night
- benebata muscle-ups are unique in that you get to work on your front yoke and your back yoke at the same time. That’s fuckin’ science. I also threw in some hanging windshield wipers and some forearm curls to work on my arm penises
- loud, exaggerated grunts or catchphrases such as “OH YEAH!” can and should be executed at the completion of each rep. Advanced Benbata practitioners will often pronounce full sentences uttered between reps. Example: “Are . . . you . . . fucking . . . seeing . . . this . . . So . . . fucking . . . jacked!”
Can’t wait to incorporate this into my workouts!
